Love Your job: March Newsletter

The latest edition of my newsletter is now available:

March 2007

Welcome to the March edition of Love your Job and welcome to the 27 new subscribers. I hope you have found the ten part series: how to get a job you’ll love useful, and would be really pleased if you asked others to subscribe so they can access it too!

I have a big article written this month - Insider tips on assessment centres. It’s far too big to include in the newsletter so have included the introduction and you can then access the full document if you want to read more. It will be very helpful for anyone approaching an assessment centre. This topic was prompted by a query from a subscriber, so if a topic interests you, let me know and this will be the focus for a future issue, and if it is urgent, you will get an advance draft copy!

Last month I wrote that I was to be a guest speaker with the Open University MBA alumni group. In the UK we had some really bad snow and the event was postponed. It will now take place on 22nd March, so do wish me luck! But I’m well prepared so all should be fine.

I’ve just got a new computer. I’d planned to wait till my previous one was 5 years old but I was getting so frustrated by how slow it was, and, being self employed I can write 50% of the cost of my computer off against tax this year.  So I took the opportunity to buy a new one. Good things - a 22″ widescreen monitor so I can have 2 documents open side by side, with 2 gig of RAM I can have plenty of programmes open at once and it doesn’t freeze up. However some of my programme can’t work with Microsoft Vista, so this is a bit frustrating till patches are developed.

I’ve included details again on my job search programme. I’ve spoken to 4 enquirers this month who are not getting shortlisted for jobs, and I appreciate how frustrating this is for people. Two people have signed up to work with me, one with the on line programme, the other person wanting more personal support. Either way, my experience as an interviewer and assessor, plus advising companies on recruitment means if you work with me you have a real expert on your side.

As with last month there are details on what Denise did last month and a quote for you to ponder on.

Until next month

Denise x
