Do YOU want to work beyond 65?
A survey by Manpower has found that 52% of employers want their staff to work beyond the age of 65 but only a third of people want to work byond this age. It all depends though on what job we do, plus personal circumstances. I’ve been listening to a song about miners (Harry Stone, by John Tams) and I’m sure in such a physical job people wouldn’t seek to work longer hours, whereas people doing consultancy and office based work may be happy to work into their 70s.
We then have people who have no choice but to work, just to survive as their pension isn’t enough to cover their commitments and those who work for the government and health service who would love to stay in work but are forced to stand down.
