Job rejection from your ideal career

Channel hopping I watched part of a TV programme taking new recruits through the process to become a flight attendant.

There were different stages to the recruitment process including checking on height/weight, ability tests, completion of a personality questionnaire. At the end of the selection day all applicants were in one large room.  6 people had their names called out and were taken to another room. At this point you didn’t know if these were the successful or unsuccessful ones.

The programme had focused on one woman and they cut in for an immediate reaction once she had learnt that the company would not proceed with her application.

It’s always hard on us when we get rejected, but I really felt for this person - this was a TV show and she probably had no choice but to agree to the filming.

I hope she got some feedback and was successful in a subsequent attempt of this is what she wanted to do.  I never saw the clip of her being interviewed but wonder to what extent she had thought through answers to questions, remembered and rehearsed possible answers and generally presented herself well?

On a slightly different note, i was trying to find your facebook account from the email i was sent. Also may I be cheeky and point out that there are a fair few typos in this post.

I would have thought that she would have to give permission to be filmed, and it is also hard when rejected for a job, although I have found in recent experience that we are not told a truthful reason for that rejection. I have had an interview recently and the interviewer took 3 weeks to get back to the agency hen rejected me stating i was not technically strong enough, although he had not asked me any technical questions.

hi Steve, thanks for spotting the typos - now corrected!

I’ll email you my facebook details.

Your experience doesn’t surprise me - not your fault but not helpful if they don’t give you an opportunity. You might have call to take this further, but would you want to proceed with a complaint?
