Hats off to success!

Out of the Hat, Tewkesbury It’s important we do more than work in our lives - we need to have some fun and also participate in things that take us outside of normal work. If you read my newsletter you will know how interested I am in music and love going to gigs. Until a year or so ago, a lot of my spare time was taken up in historical re-enactment.

My husband and I are members of the Sealed Knot and were regulars at Living History events where we re-enacted life in the period of the English Civil War. Most of these events were some distance away from home and took up a whole weekend. We are delighted that a new tourist attraction has opened up in Tewkesbury and we were involved in the launch.

This new building called Out of the Hat is a 15th century building that has been restored and includes interactive displays on the history of

Tewkesbury and plenty on the 17th Century. Our involvement was to attend in our 17th century clothes, to pose for photos and to walk around the town, handing out leaflets and encouraging people to visit. I hadn’t expected it to be so cold and wet. My hat blew off 4 times and my feet and hands became icy cold. We were able to give out all the leaflets and people seemed genuinely interested - so hats off to its success!
