Personal Development - learning about yourself through people you admire
There’s an interesting exercise you can do to think about important personal qualities - looking at what you admire in others and then seeing what qualities you would personally like to develop.
I first came across this exercise about 25 years ago on a personal development weekend.
What you need to do first is to choose 5- 10 people that you admire, perhaps if you were putting together the list of ideal dinner party guests these are the ones you would have. They don’t have to be famous people; it could include a teacher or parent.
Think about what is it about these people - why are they are the list, what is it that you admire about them.
It can be useful to write down your thoughts in your journal.
It’s useful to write down the qualities of the people individually and then to step back and think about the qualities you would like to develop.
Let me know how you get on.
