Career advice: how to find a job fast

I’ve had an enquiry which says: "I’m doing a diploma in counselling and am struggling to get out there, so to speak.  I don’t know where to start, what to do first. Could you give me any advice?

I said "A good first step is to be clear on what you are looking for – do you know the sort of job you want to do? What might be useful is to sign up for the 10 steps to a job you love programme via my web site as that takes you through a number of areas to help you be clear on what you do want.

Once you are clear you can then get started on job search and you make use of both advertised jobs – via newspapers, journals, job sites etc and also though talking with people letting people know what you are looking for and contacting companies direct.

An article you might find useful is "How to find a job fast"
