Career coaching client feedback

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
"For years I was unhappy in my profession but was never brave enough to speak to someone like Denise. When I finally did, it was such an eye-opener and enabled me to realise that staying in my job would have only meant continuing to be unhappy with what I was doing.
I found the Highlands Assessment particularly useful since it gave me the answers to my two main questions: (1) Am I suitable for the job I am currently in? and (2) Am I suitable for the new job I am proposing to take up?
With Denise’s help, I have now decided to quit my old job and start my 3-year training to become a golf coach… and, whilst this will result in a temporary financial set-back, I am confident that this will lead to me being happier with life in the long-run."

Career Coaching Client Feedback

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I would highly recommend Denise’s Interview Coaching sessions.

I decided to try them after making it to interview stage but no further on several occassions. Denise was able to quickly pinpoint where I was going wrong and provide me with the confidence and skills to break the pattern. I put these into practice at my next interview and was offered the Job!

R Hignett.

Career Coaching Client Feedback

Sunday, November 15th, 2009
What did you like, what was helpful about our session(s)?
I found out a lot about myself and, in particular, about whether or not I was suited for my current job.

What were the key learning points for you?
That I was not suited for a fast-paced environment but, instead, a more secure profession within which I knew my responsibilities and what had to be achieved on a day-to-day basis. I learnt that not being good at something (ie not possessing a certain ability) was not necessarily negative – what is important is to discover in which profession the abilities which you do have are required.

Would you work with me again? Would you recommend this service to your friends/colleagues? Yes and yes.

I appreciate testimonials I can include on my web site, if you would be happy to write one please include it below.  Wonderful job, Denise. You have helped me take the oh so important step of finally being able to distance myself from a job which made me unhappy for years. The future is bright – thanks so much.

From Alan, ex Lawyer

Career Coaching Client Feedback

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Another satisfied client!

How useful were the coaching/ feedback sessions?  Where 1 is not very useful and 5 is very useful

           1        2        3        4        5

What did you like, what was helpful about our session(s)?

I had booked the session to discuss:

- how to gain experience to achieve my long-term career goal
- reviewing ways of searching for a job (this reflected my short-term goal of getting back into employment)
- reviewing my CV

The session was particularly helpful in terms of having my CV reviewed (objectively) and thinking about how it could be structured once I began to gain experience to achieve my career goal.  We also discussed ways in which I could find out more about my choice of career.

I think the session also gave me some added motivation.

What were the key learning points for you?

-      How to structure a skills based CV
-      The use of fact finding interviews

Would you work with me again? Would you recommend this service to your friends/colleagues? What would you say to them?

Yes, I would work with Denise again.  I found it helpful to have some objective advice and guidance.  I would also recommend the service to friends who were uncertain about their career goals or work situation.  I think the service is competitively priced.

Val, Bristol

Career coaching feedback

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

"Talking to Denise is so relaxing and makes me feel calm and that everything is alright" Natasha, Somerset

"Speaking to Denise has really helped, I no longer feel stuck! " Sonia, London

"I appreciated the logic of the process as this gave me a structure to explore all possible avenues. It enabled me to question myself, but in a positive way. You must be prepared to challenge yourself to get the most out if the work. This work has helped, not only in a work sense but also in my personal circumstances." Martin Liverpool.

"Denise really loves her work and this comes across when you speak to her. I found this inspiring as I am looking to change careers" Anabella Hardwick

‘No question that I found the mock session interview helpful. Also, upon reflection and from your feedback, my interview response techniques have not been the best, hence the poor results.  I am more positive now and should land that dream job soon.’ Ade

‘I just wanted to let you know that I’m just about to finish my Masters in Journalism, and I’ve got a placement at XXXXXX. It’s only six months but I’ve got the start somewhere and I can go on all sorts of other courses whilst I’m there. So when it finishes hopefully I can move onto to something better. I want to say a massive thank you as without your help and support I would probably still be really lost and wouldn’t be where I am now. enny

Another career coaching client success

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I’ve probably written before about the interview coaching sessions I do.  I often do these by phone and send my clients a numbe rof questions to prepare and then ask them, give my client feedback from an interviewers point of view and then go into my career coaching mode.

Today was great news, Anne has just got the job she went for in environmental consultancy – she was told that she interviewed exceptionally well.

There are still jobs, and people will still be interviewed, and you need to make sure that you perform as well as you can as there will be stiff competition.  Anne said that another person scored higher on paper but she interviewed best.

If I can help you, please do get in touch.

Career Coaching Client Feedback

Friday, February 20th, 2009
One of the best things I ever did for my career was to make an appointment to see Denise. Denise’s strength as a careers consultant is her combination of detailed, practical and tested advice, and her recognition that we will only be successful in making effective changes in our lives if we understand what we really want, and believe that it is right for us. This book is no exception. It is a toolkit containing every possible careers tool for every opportunity but it will also get you thinking about what kind of career you want to build and why. It is like having your own personal careers consultant: you are guided every step of the way but continually encouraged to think for yourself and to make the advice work best for you. Alison Rostron, public sector manager
The constant stream of ‘crises this, crises that, jobs loses here and job cut backs there’ can be very de-motivating. It can really make you feel as though life is on a downward spiral. All hope of getting any job, never mind the job of your dreams may seem to have been totally blown out of the water but remember, the present is a gift, don’t waste it withering away in your armchair at home (unless that is what you want to of course) or in a job you hate. Denise’s inspirational book will give you just what you need to kick start your motivation, to role up your sleeves, get out there and get THAT job!! And it tells you exactly how to do it too!!! You could choose to just wallow in the doom and gloom of the current situation and use it as an excuse for not getting to where you want to be in the world of work OR you could choose to do something about it. Life can seem complicated but one thing we all have is choice. If you choose to take action then this book will help you to take the positive steps required to get you to where you want to be. What do you choose? Denise I can not begin to imagine how many people this book will help but I know it will have a positive impact on many peoples lives! It’s just what the doctor ordered. Congratulations on producing such a motivating and constructive guide! Irene Cowling, Life Coach and Trainer
"Denise’s expert advice and step by step approach has put an end to my hours spent aimlessly wading through the internet hoping to stumble on the perfect job. She’s helped me identify my interests, find direction and focus my job search."  David, Career Changer

Feedback on the Bronze Career Programme

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Jane recently completed the Bronze Career Programme.

This is one of my cost effective assessments, comprising two assessments – The Strong Interest Inventory which helps people to compare their interests with those of other people and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to help understand personal style.   Clients also get an extra hour of coaching to use this data and move things forward.

We generally split the time into 2 one hour sessions, as this allows me to bring the results of the two assessments together, to draw up a shortlist of jobs to explore and to use this as the starting point of the second meeting.

Jane has said that "The Bronze programme was very useful in focussing my thoughts and plans.   I have explored the Next Steps info and looked carefully at the career suggestions".

She told me about how she has explored some of the different options, found people to talk to and can see how one of the options could work out.

The personality assessment has really helped her to understand herself, to make sure she considers jobs that suit the person she is and the sort of workplace that will best suit her.
