I had been deviating a bit from my plan – not by much but having more wine and carbs than I used to. I want to get to the magic 100 (150) so this week I have been 100% focused. Absolutely no carbs outside of what is naturally occuring in veggies and fruit. I have also logged EVERYTHING I eat and eaten at 3 hourly intervals, planning in advance what to eat. I’ve also been working even harder at the gym.
This morning I’ve got on the scales and my weight loss since last week is 5lb. I’m now at 13 stone 5lb, but looking a lot lighter as I have a lot of muscle.
I have planned for alcohol this weekend. A glass of champagne on Saturday and more on Sunday as it is my parents in laws 60th wedding anniversary, and our anniversary but this will be controlled drinking, and will eat as clean as possible, although I plan to eat one slice of tiger bread on Sunday. There’s something about tiger bread!
41 weeks, 78lb weight loss since 9th October
5 weeks to my birthday; 11 weeks to one year of taking control of my health

It’s now 31 weeks since I committed to getting fit and healthy, and for a couple of weeks I tried out eating more, and having a glass of wine at night, and the weight loss dropped.
This was for a couple of reasons – I’d followed carefully everything my personal trainer had said but for the past 8 weeks he has been off ill and I felt a bit abandoned, no longer having him carefully monitoring food and advising re nutritional supplements. But also 6 months is a long time to follow a plan and it did me good to eat a little differently, and I was still losing at least a pound a week.
I’m still working out and got a brilliant inspirational trainer called Emma.
Today I got on the scales and have lost 3lb this week, a total of 8lb in 5 weeks and my overall loss is 66lb since October, only 4 lb short of 5stone and a target – to be at this by the end of the month latest.
From my very biggest I am down by well over 8stone – 116lb!
31 weeks, 66lb loss
If I lose another 40lbs I will literally be half the woman I was – will I do it? it will take time, but yes I will!

6 months! It’s a long time to have been following my plan, but the weight took a long time to put on.
I got on the scales this morning and a 2lb loss this week making it a 58lb (4 stone 2lb) total since committing to a new way of eating and living back in October. I’ve also got 3 stone to go to the magic 100lb loss (which will be a 150lb from my very heaviest). I should get there this side of Christmas.
I’ve written about my personal trainer, Ben, and how helpful he has been in refocusing my diet and his approach to exercise, but poor Ben is quite ill, and for the past 3 weeks has been unavailable, and I don’t know when he’s coming back. I’ve now got myself a new personal trainer, Emma, who has a different approach to Ben but I don’t think that’s a bad thing, good to give my body a bit of a shake up. So now I’m doing more cardio and sweating a heck of a lot more. Still using weights, but also moving fast and some of it is pretty hard going, swinging an 8kg medicine ball with lifts and squats. also doing brand new exercises such as the jack knife. Doing an exercise I’ve never done before is so weird, and my body struggled, but by the second day I was already better.
I’ve been keeping my new clothes shopping to the minimum, I have 2 dresses I wear for work, but my casual trousers were too big, so had to look for something new. It was great to go into Next and all their size 18 trousers fitted, no need to breathe in to get the zip up, but I knew these would soon get baggy, so instead bought some cheaper ones, which I’ll be happier to dispose of in a couple of months.
I’m seeing Emma later today and she’ll be measuring me, so I’ll add an update later.
UPDATE
Emma checked my measurements and it’s a great month:here is the monthly loss of cm, along with the total in 6 months
Bust, dropped 1cm, total loss is 22.3cm
Right bicep: 3.9cm drop – 6.9cm
Waist, dropped 6.7cm, total loss is 24.2 cm
Hips dropped 4 cm, total loss is 24.5cm

I haven’t done an update for 4 weeks. It’s been a slow month, with some set backs – how did I put weight on?!? but as I’ve said before weight is just one measurement and I’m getting so much stronger.
Last month I had some amazing changes in my measurements, see previous entry) this time it has been less dramatic but the overall progress is still good.
Every 5 days I’m allowed one carb meal, but last week this allowed me to go out and have a meal with friends, I ate more than I usually would on such a meal, and drank more, and that lead to a couple of pounds weight gain, although, as Ben says, it wasn’t fat but my body storing glycogen and water. I’m now weighing the same as I did this time last week, so a bit disappointing, and lesson learnt, I can’t eat everything I want, even for one meal, and an indicator that I’ll need to follow my change of eating plan for the rest of my life.
I’m still 6lb down on this time last month, so not a bad weight loss and 1.5cm off my bust.
My exercises continue to get more challenging. The split squats, which are similar to lunges, have progressed from doing this on a step, to a low step, to on the floor, with 3kg weights, to 5kg weights. Then yesterday I’ve dropped the weights but have my back foot on a low step, this is hard going but I know within a couple of weeks I’ll be able to do them fine.
I talk with my career coaching clients about the need to stay focused and motivated, this is what I’m doing with my healthy living campaign.
Total weigh loss is 54lb (2lb short of 4 stone in 23 weeks)

Last month I was amazed by the change in my measurements, my bust had decreased by 5.5cm and my waist by 6.5cm and my right thigh by 2.5cm, although not my left which is my stronger leg. This month my hips have dropped by 8.25 cm, my bust by a further 4.5cm and my waist by another 2.5cm, I’ve even lost .25cm from my bicep which Ben says is impressive as I’m building muscle. I know I push myself hard at the gym, and use quite heavy weights and do lots of reps but this is unbelievable – I’ve lost 10cm off my bust in 8 weeks, and 11cm from my waist. so that’s about 4" from both.
I’m now at a total loss of 48lb since I started working out with Ben in October, and 98lb from when I was at my very heaviest.
I really want to get on the scales on Friday and to see a 50lb loss, but Ben says I look like I’ve lost so much more because of everything toning up.
It really is hard work and I have to show a lot of determination though, it would be so easy to go and eat something I shouldn’t but I won’t I am focused on my goals, just like I encourage my career coaching clients to do.

I don’t believe it, I’ve lost 5lb this week and 9lb in a fortnight, however prior to this I had a 2 week plateau so this is 9lb in a month which is a good result anyway, but this week … who knows why it has dropped so much.
I had 9 days without going to the gym, and during those days doing very limited exercise due to my bad back but this week I have eaten clean and always had plenty of juiced vegetables. For example yesterday I had 1/2 a cucumber and later 1/2 head of celery. I’ve also started measuring out nuts, so I know roughly how many I can eat for about 150 calories which is much better than having 100g bag and keeping on dipping in.
This week I went to the gym on my own on Tuesday and Wednesday and yesterday and today will have worked out with Ben. He pushed me so hard yesterday and my legs hurt so much – overall I did 80 split lunges (4 x 20) and everything else I was pushed to my limit, but it is paying off!
Summary – 5lb weight loss this week, total weight loss 44lb

It’s now 16 weeks since I have eaten chocolate and I don’t miss it at all!
Since plateauing last week, since Friday I have been strict, and kept to eating clean and also cutting back on the amount of nuts I have been eating, but I have had a set back and have only been to the gym once this week.
After working out hard for days on a go I took Saturday off – I was busy, had a client with me for over 3 hours and we then went shopping and to the cinema, the next day I was fine when I got up but after sitting at my desk for 3 hours I got up and my back hurt. I didn’t think that much of it and I still went to the gym but that evening my back really started to hurt and on Monday was even worse – so I have used ice, heat and massage and although I am in a lot less pain I am still tender so will not go back to the gym till Tuesday.
It’s been very weird, not working out but the last thing I want to do is to damage my back.
It was with much hesitation that I got on the scales this morning and flabbergasted to find that I’d lost 4lb, so feeling very happy!
I wrote last week that there are many different measures and weight is just one of them, but it is still great to see a loss, especially as without exercise I’ve not had the benefit of using up more calories. I just hope I haven’t lost muscle tone, but I don’t think you would in a week? Now waiting for reassurance from Ben.
Summary – 4lb weight loss this week, total weight loss 39lb

It’s the end of week 15 and in the past 2 weeks, my weight has remained static, but weight is only one measurement and there are also levels of fitness and how healthy you feel, plus the measurements! Today was my monthly measurement day with Ben and in the past 5 weeks, there have certainly been some changes – my bust has decreased by 5.5cm – unbelievable, and no wonder I needed new bras! My waist has also dropped by 6.5cm and my right thigh by 2.5cm, although not my left which is my stronger leg. I’m so much better at doing split lunges on my left leg to my right.
Ben also measures fat using callipers and although these measures only change slightly, they too have gone down, although Ben could tell that I’m holding more water in my body than normal, that’s why it was harder for him to take measurements.
So I’m not down, and pleased I did such a great work out today – the modified death circuit. It’s only the 3rd time I’ve done this and I’ve progressed from 12 squats with 6kg in each hand x 4 to 20 with 8kg in each hand x 4, and my dead lift using a bar is now lifting 37.5kg instead of 32.5kg.
So onwards, I’ll continue with what I’m doing and aim for my 3lb loss next week.

For many people this will be the first day back at work after a 2 week Christmas break, and with poor weather you might not be feeling highly motivated.
So you need to think of ways to get you through the day, and you can do this on the days to come
Set some objectives
What do you need to do today and over this week. Take some time to prepare before you get sucked in to tasks and at the end of the day realise your priorities were wrong.
A quick review of your emails
just because you have been on holiday doesn’t mean that others have as well so you may come back to a huge inbox, and before you know it half the day will have gone. So act smart, and anything that will wait as its a nice to read rather than an urgent to do can go into a folder to be read once you have some spare time. Don’t get sidetracked!
Think about time trials
Often we take our time, but when the pressure is on we can often work much faster so if you have a lot to do why not do some ’sprints’ and work at a brisk pace, not for all day but as you move onto a task, decide how long it should take and see if you can do it quicker.
Review – both at lunch time and the end of the day
It’s worth taking some time out before you go to lunch and think about how the morning went and how you are feeling. If all went well you should be feeling positive so enjoy your lunch. If not feeling so great think about whether things were outside your control – if they are then don’t beat yourself up! Better to think about what changes you can make that are in your control. If you have got distracted by the emails in your inbox then this afternoon is a fresh start. Don’t forget to review at the end of the day as well.
Think about your career future
If it’s a busy day today this may have to wait, but schedule some time to think about how happy you are at work and where you would like to be in your career this time next year and also in 3 or 5 years time. Having a plan means you can get focused on things that will help you to achieve them
What will help you get there?
Will this be to
· Seek out a meeting to discuss your future with your boss?
· Become more proactive at work and go beyond your job description?
· Start a course or do some self directed study
· Seek advice and support from a career coach?
At the end of the day why not let me know how it has gone? Or if I can help, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – www.amazingpeople.co.uk
