Get-Connected was a six-month initiative from BBC Learning aimed to inspire people to learn and improve basic online skills.  BBC WebWise launched a series of online resources explaining how to get basic online skills – from how to fill in online forms to how to get broadband and how to use a search engine. I spent the day in the BBC Studio answering questions on 11 BBC radio shows. The aim was to get more people online and I was one of a series of guest experts. The others included Spencer Kelly and Maggie Philbin. I wrote a blog post on this.

Radio day answering questions on the Graduate Talent Pool, an initiative developed by the Government to help recent graduates gain relevant work experience. Radio shows included: Heart FM, Sky News Radio, Colourful Radio, Express FM, Star FM, The Eye, Westside FM, Hayes FM plus a podcast.  In the accompanying press release I was quoted as:

Denise Taylor an occupational psychologist and life coach said: “Going into higher education at a later stage in life has become extremely popular however some still struggle to make the jump. Due to the current downturn, many people are taking time to reassessing their future career paths and how having the right education will enhance their chances of meeting their goals. As a result, I tend to find mature students are often much clearer on why they want to study and can get focused on their future career goals right away.”

Radio day with David Lammy MP, discussing a new resource launched for mature students, bringing together for the first time the offerings of every University and Higher Education Institute in England for adult first-time entrants.
