A week ago I was travelling back from Mexico, a long and arduous journey with the worst bit taking almost the full 3 hours to transit through LA.
I’d been to Modern Elder Academy, at Baja, California Sur, Mexico. Learning about ancient wisdom but also plenty of time just to be. I wrote about one of the discussions we had on sabbaticals last time. If you missed it, here is the link.
I have now signed a contract with Routledge for my next book – working title is Rethink Retirement, and based on my academic research. I’m super excited to be working with such a prestigious publisher, but also a bit scared and apprehensive as my usually way of writing is straight from my head, I write about what I know. This time I need to ensure I’m referencing the different academic sources.
I seem to have a lot of illness with people who are close to me, family members in hospital or having medical treatment so I need to keep strong for them, which puts more pressure on me. So aiming to stay calm, centred and grounded so I have space for them and to be of support.
Where do you want to be in the next 3 months?
The children are back at school, older teenagers at university, and the leaves are turning. I like this time of year, the change of the seasons. In 3 weeks we will be at Samhain which marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.
I think these next 3 weeks are the perfect time to plan. Where do you want to be as we enter 2023. Is there something you want to make a habit? Do you want to have more of something? Is there a goal you want to achieve?
Recently I’ve been changing what and how I eat since I signed up for the Zoe programme to understand more about Gut Microbiome. So I’m having fruit with Greek yoghurt as that suits my body and am eating many different vegetables, especially green vegetables with my meals. At first it seemed a bit strange to have courgettes, green beans and asparagus for breakfast alongside my scrambled eggs, but this is what they served in Mexico and I’ve continued now home.
For me, it’s been less around cutting out food and more about eating more.
