Good morning,
It’s a dull day but that doesn’t mean that it has to be a dull weekend. I hope you have some good things ahead. I’ve got a mix – a client this morning, 2 films at the cinema and a day of dance classes on Sunday. Plus, I want to finish reading a book, I love to laze with a novel and I don’t do it enough.
I’ve had 3 days of consultancy this week, so 3 nights in a hotel in London. I try and bring some fun into this and went to a cabaret evening at Crazy Coqs, Piccadilly. There were two west end singers – Tracey Graves and Ashley Day and it was far more enjoyable than a proper show. Close up and intimate is a great description.
This week I’d like to encourage you to

  • Consider making a positive change.
  • Be inspired to dance
  • Share some media coverage

I look forward to talking with you next time,
All good wishes
Denise x

You can’t sit still – the need for improvement

Copyright: Vector Image by StockUnlimited
Using my website as an example, if I’d never made improvements it would still be created in Front Page. But that’s to focus on the technology.
I’ve continued to make changes based on what I learn about the ‘user experience’ but also on my knowledge about the topic. I know I have a tendency to provide too much information, I want to share, but sometimes it can be a bit confusing. I give people too many options. So I’m simplifying things. The home page won’t change till later, for now I’m working on other pages and yesterday made the changes to the career coaching set of pages. I had 11 options but have now reduced it to 3:

  • Career Discovery
  • Career Management
  • Young People

My aim is to reduce all the sections in a similar way. But do I prioritise this or a new style of e-Learning – to work on revising my eBooks. I’m starting with the LinkedIn eBook.

LinkedIn eBook

This is a big eBook and it has got unwieldy to bring up to date. I’m at least half way through with my replacement. This is going to be an online programme with guided (narrated) sections. This will make it easy to revise sections, and also make it easy for you to find the section you need. It will be much more like a guided coaching session with me than reading a book.
If you have already bought the LinkedIn eBook, you will get a discount once this programme goes on sale. I hope to share good news next weekend, but my deadline is the end of the month (as I may prioritise the website improvements).

Your challenge

Think about what you do, at work or at home. What is one small change you could make.

Be inspired: In the news

I love to dance, and there has been quite a lot in the press on the health benefits of dancing – being better for you than using the cardio equipment at the gym. If you missed it, you can catch up on the BBC programme – How to stay young here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b076zf93/how-to-stay-young-episode-1
Yesterday I read about the health benefits of Greek dancing
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/04/160414214819.htm
The benefits are down to a combination of moving and having to learn new steps, and then to make sure you do it in time to the music. Maybe you should consider taking up dance?

Client Feedback

From our first conversation on the telephone I felt comfortable and able to talk openly and honestly about the way I felt and what I was looking for. One of the most important aspects for me was to be able to sit face to face and talk through the available options. I learnt so much about myself using the internet based tests along with your skilled interpretations. Almost a year on I am still applying what I learned and considering your advice as I take each step towards a new career and a much more sustainable work life balance.
